HARDENCO, formerly known as Hartford Denim Company, once again salutes America's patriotic beginnings in Boston's Evacuation Day
& St. Patrick's Day Parade.
February, 2014; Boston, MA –
American Made Heroes announces they are once again marching in the Boston St. Patrick / Evacuation Day Parade showing support for ALL
USA's manufacturers and innovators. The parade is on Sunday March 16th and travels through historic South Boston specifically designed to
march up and past historic Dorchester Heights National Monument.
American Made Heroes founder Mike Tamulis says as a child growing up in the neighborhood he now views the parade more as a celebration of
fierce patriotism and perseverance. Those who bravely climbed that hill on March 4th 1776 risked everything to stand firmly for their
freedoms & against tyranny. That victory marked the beginning of the process that went on to change the world forever.
On the old factory floors that helped to make Hartford a powerhouse, the Hartford Denim boys are beginning their bluejean revival, using industrial, aging sewing machines they find on craigslist and the best un-Sanforized denim they can scrounge from suppliers. At the beginning, they worked in their parents' basements and garages in West Hartford. A year ago, they moved into a building on Pratt Street in Hartford. Around that time they got an invitation to a New York fashion show, where the three bearded guys from Hartford were a big hit, cutting and sewing their distinctive jeans with the Connecticut-shaped leather patch on the rear beltloop.
The factory floor, with big windows that look out on downtown Hartford, feels like a visit to another century. There are bicycles, sewing and other mysterious machinery and everywhere, pants in various stages of production. Meanwhile, a drum set, keyboards and electric guitars sit on a platform in the corner of one large room, a reminder that it's not all about sewing denim for these guys.
They want you to show up to their shop and see how the jeans are made, one pair can take up to 10 hours. Each pair is made from your measurements so they fit perfectly. The jeans are not inexpensive, but with the work that goes into them, you wouldn’t expect them to be. If you want to see what they’re doing in their workshop give Luke a call, he’d like to hear from you. 860-880-0495.
