American Made Heroes!

Joseph Abboud
... truly an
American Made Hero
Joseph Abboud is the only remaining American Designer with a significant US manufacturing operation whose heritage is genuinely Made In America.
“Menswear is so exciting. Young guys have a hunger for style and information is everywhere. The biggest challenge is how do we connect with the way they’re
thinking? We need to talk to them on their level, not the way we’d talk to them 20 years ago. We have a social media team that drags me along and I’m
fascinated by it. We’re reaching consumers in a different way today.”
As for the future of retail, Abboud predicts that the vertical model will be even more important since it allows retailers to tell their story the way they want to. “We employ 800 people at the New Bedford, Mass. factory. We make 330,000 suits a year and can pass on a 30 to 40 percent savings to our customer. We can sell a $795 suit that’s made in America. And it’s not just a suit that’s made in America; it’s made well in America.” The New Bedford factory can now manufacture Joseph Abboud made-to-measure suiting in 5 days. |

At Home with Fashion Designer Joseph Abboud
Tour fashion designer Joseph Abboud's Boston home "Even after three decades of high-profile living and award winning in New York, menswear designer Joseph Abboud remains a Boston boy at heart. The first clue is how he describes his suburban home in Bedford, just north of Manhattan. Forget the leafy town’s easy commute to the city, or how its residents (including his own two daughters, both now students at Boston College) start riding horses young. For Joseph, the most relevant fact is that it’s “a two-hour-and-47-minute drive to Fenway Park.” Not to put too fine a point on it. When talk runs to the Red Sox or anything else Boston-based, Joseph’s in deep." Click here for article and photos. |

Patriotism, Jobs Primary Motivations for 'Buying American'
PRINCETON, NJ -- Forty-five percent of Americans say they recently made a special effort to buy products made in the United States. When asked why, these shoppers mainly cited patriotic or altruistic goals related to the national economy, including creating and keeping jobs in the U.S., rather than product-specific considerations such as quality, safety, or cost.
