What he didn't talk about is the administration's plans for far more seismic changes to the local fashion industry—which business insiders and elected officials say are being rushed through without full consideration of the damage they might cause to a major sector of the city's economy."

"It's really about having this incredible research and development hub," said Susan Chin, executive director of the Design Trust for Public Space, who added that tinkering with the creative engine could undercut the whole enterprise.
