U.S. Rep. Heath Shuler (D-NC)
...selected as a new member of AmericanMadeHeroes!
For his focus on protecting the jobs and security of Ameican workers by his quietly seeing to it that our trade laws are
properly enforced and cheaters are punished Rep. Heath Shuler has earned individual recognition as an
AmericanMadeHero.com!
A native of Swain County and a current resident of Haywood County, Heath Shuler was first elected to represent North Carolina’s 11th Congressional District in November 2006. The 11th District is comprised of the 15 westernmost counties in North Carolina: Buncombe, Clay, Cherokee, Graham, Haywood, Henderson, Jackson, Macon, Madison, McDowell, Polk, Rutherford, Swain, Transylvania, and Yancey.
"Trade with foreign nations is a crucial part of our economy and, when done fairly and properly, should be promoted by our
government. The so-called “free-trade” agreements, put in place by previous Congresses, however, have not been fair.
In fact these agreements, like NAFTA and CAFTA, have failed most American workers and families. That is why I have
repeatedly spoken out against and voted against new unfair trade agreements in that model, like the Peru Free Trade
Agreement."
"As a member of Congress, I am committed to creating a new direction for America's trade agreements - a direction that
protects American jobs and helps American workers. "
