... a great American Made Hero Company.
When the Sports Illustrated photographer called in the spring of 1990 to say he wanted to photograph the Cooperstown Bat
Company, they warned him they were no big deal, just a small workshop in a garage. "Like Geppetto's in Pinocchio," they said.
His response was "That's what we like best!" His pictures appeared with an article about their fine collectible bats in the
July 9, 1990 issue of Sports Illustrated.
"Cooperstown Bat Company also makes an excellent line of Pro Model bats for adult and youth play. Pro wood, ash and
maple, coming direct from the timber producer in upstate New York
Baseball fans inspired the formation of the Cooperstown Bat Company in 1981. From an idea poked, prodded, and examined with
bleary eyes in the hours between midnight and 3 am in the basement and kitchen of their home, it grew to childhood in a barn
and adolescence in a friend's garage in Cooperstown. In 1991 maturity led it to a real home in its very own building in Fly
Creek (a suburb of Cooperstown). In 1995 they added a neat little retail store at 118 Main St., Cooperstown. Along the way they
had figured out how to make beautiful decaled baseball bats and how to be a bat company with a difference.

"Not only the wealth, but the independence and security of a country, appear
to be materially connected with the prosperity of manufacturers. Every nation ... ought to endeavor to possess within
itself all the essentials of a national supply. They comprise the means of subsistence, habitation, clothing and
defense ... The expediency of encouraging manufactures in the United States, which was not long since deemed very
questionable, appears at this time to be pretty generally admitted."
