Manhattan's Historic Old Town Bar ... since 1892!
... specially selected as an American Made Hero Bar!
The Old Town Bar has been in operation since 1892 originally serving the factory workers from the surrounding neighborhood.
On staff now are seven great-great grand childen of John Fessig who owned Manhattan lager bier taverns going back to the
1840's. The brothers Gerard and Matt Meagher took over the Old Town Bar after the death of their father and are very focused on
maintaining the old traditions of a historic American bar. For all their efforts we recognize the owners and staff at Old

and explore one of the best old bars in America ...Old Town Bar!
The Old Town is a conversation bar and grill, where people come to talk over beer and hamburgers and as a result, it draws a wide variety of patrons, from Wall Street traders to college students and a few Irish-American regulars. New Yorkers or tourists seeking a trendy bar, party space or gourmet experience should look elsewhere.
A true New York classic: Ancient mariners sit side by side with sports nuts, frat boys, and hip preppies (a scene from The Last Days of Disco was filmed here) who struggle valiantly not to use their cell phones. Everyone's come for the perfectly sized, house-made burgers—not too big but not too small—which are also some of the city's tastiest. And if you sit downstairs, keep your eyes on the end of the bar to see your order arrive from the upstairs kitchen via dumbwaiter.
The Old Town Bar has been around since 1892 and has had it's fair share of the lime light. The walls are covered with autographs, and the location was featured in "Sex and the City" and Madonna strutted across the bar in her "Bad Girl" video.

"Not only the wealth, but the independence and security of a country, appear
to be materially connected with the prosperity of manufacturers. Every nation ... ought to endeavor to possess within
itself all the essentials of a national supply. They comprise the means of subsistence, habitation, clothing and
defense ... The expediency of encouraging manufactures in the United States, which was not long since deemed very
questionable, appears at this time to be pretty generally admitted."

Patriotism, Jobs Primary Motivations for 'Buying American'
PRINCETON, NJ -- Forty-five percent of Americans say they recently made a special effort to buy products made in the United States. When asked why,
these shoppers mainly cited patriotic or altruistic goals related to the national economy, including creating and keeping jobs in the U.S., rather than
product-specific considerations such as quality, safety, or cost.
