American Made Heroes ... join us as we begin the new Sons & Daughters of Liberty!

We thank Yale's Professor Freeman for her teaching us about the Sons of Liberty!
Listening to Professor Freeman describe the Sons of Liberty in her usual humorous style reminds me of my youth growing up in South Boston of which she is speaking in detail and the knuckle-head & sometimes dangerous things we also did including street fights and taunting. I describe her teaching this course as "Freeman on freedom" ... repeat it slowly ... uniquely appropriate.

She begins speaking about the Sons of Liberty & Boston about 10 minutes into this lecture. I have included a link to her entire Yale course of 25 lectures at the bottom of this page. Know your history! From this knowledge we will weave the actions of Boston's brave citizens & trouble makers into today's real problem of our losing our economic independence once again through the aggressive application of mercantilism by a foreign power against our economy which is detailed in below linked and highly researched academic document. History does repeat ... it is NOW time for you to take an active role.

The American Revolution ... the course by Professor Freeman

Professor Freeman offers an introduction to the course, summarizing the readings and discussing the course's main goals. She also offers five tips for studying the Revolution: 1) Avoid thinking about the Revolution as a story about facts and dates; 2) Remember that words we take for granted today, like "democracy," had very different meanings; 3) Think of the "Founders" as real people rather than mythic historic figures; 4) Remember that the "Founders" aren't the only people who count in the Revolution; 5) Remember the importance of historical contingency: that anything could have happened during the Revolution.
